Mitra Soltani (b. 1988, Iran) is a multidisciplinary artist, painter, and researcher whose practiceexplores landscape as a living archive of memory, human experience, and cultural narratives.Working across painting, installation, performance, and site-specific practices, she creates immersive environments where nature, material, and collective histories intersect.Soltani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Painting and a Master’s degree in Design from the TehranUniversity of Art. Since the beginning of her artistic practice, she has been engaged with environmental and site-specific art, developing a close relationship with natural landscapes, materials, and local narratives. These experiences shaped her ongoing exploration of landscape as a space where human presence, history, and memory are continuously transformed.Drawing from Persian literature and mythology, particularly the works of Nezami, Attar, and Ferdowsi, Soltani reinterprets ancient narratives through contemporary spatial experiences. Rather than illustrating myths, she reveals their underlying landscapes and explores their relevance to themes of endurance, resistance, freedom, and human existence.Through large-scale installations, painting, and material-based processes, Soltani creates landscapes that invite physical and emotional encounters. Her works investigate how places preserve traces of the past, how materials carry memory, and how art can offer alternative ways of perceiving the relationship between humans and the natural world. Soltani has presented five solo exhibitions and participated in more than thirty group exhibitions internationally, including projects in Iran, Germany, Italy, Turkey and South Korea.
